Kris, the blogger, is the mother of a deployed Army son. Her own ‘combat training’ has involved volunteer work at a military installation, attending Army 101, helping in a community education program about military life, traveling into a country at war, and taking the class “Care and Counsel for Combat Trauma.”

Growing up in a military family helped, too, but this is the first time she has faced a son’s deployment to a combat zone.

How to get through? Blogging will help, and she’ll have more to share as we move forward.
